Sunday, Sept. 9

Up around 8 a.m., but skipped my exercises as usual on Sundays. Hubbie accompanied Mother to our house, where she relaxed while I showered and dressed.

Did the usual Sunday morning things, then around 11 a.m., I started a lunch of fried chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, and a choice of Lima beans or butter beans. While I prepared lunch, we watched a 1993 Hallmark movie on DVD that we'd borrowed from the library..."Skylark," starring Glenn Close, and Christopher Walken. This movie is a sequel to "Sarah Plain and Tall." We saw "Sarah," but missed "Skylark," so it was new to us. Sarah lives on a prarie farm with her husband and two stepchildren. The area suffers a drought, and Sarah and the kids return to Maine for a while.

During and after lunch, we watched, "Winter People," a 1989 film starring Kurt Russell and Kelly McGillis (also a movie we borrowed from the library). We do remember having seen this one before, but remembered nothing of the plot. It's a very good movie. In 1934, a young widower and his daughter move to a North Carolina mountain town, where they meet a young woman with an out-of-wedlock baby, who lives alone in a cabin. Naturally, they eventually fall in love, but there are lots of problems along the way.

We followed that movie with the first part of "Lawrence of Arabia," another from the library. This 1962 film stars Peter O'Toole, Alec Guinness, and Anthony Quinn. T.E. Lawrence was a larger-than-life British militaty figure. His adventures and heroics in the Middle East during WWI. The scenery is spectacular in this movie that takes place in an arid, harsh, and unforgiving part of the world.

It was 5 p.m., by the time we finished with Part One of this movie, so we stopped to have a soup supper, and then I accompanied Mother to her house, and waited until she showered before I returned home.

While I was at Mother's house, Hubbie went shopping for a few grocery items at the WDCS, and fill the van with gas.

Spent the rest of the evening watching one-hour mystery shows from the Hallmark channel. Took a break to make a batch of instant chocolate pudding for a snack later. Hubbie took a dish of it, with whipped topping, to Mother.

Pretty laid-back day altogehter.
