Thursday, Jan. 2

Today is the anniversary of my younger brother's birthday. We lost him in 1965.

Up at 7:30, but postponed my exercises until later. Got dressed, had breakfast, and waited to the worker to arrive to put the vinyl down in the bathroom.

He arrived around 10 a.m. Took him most of the day to complete the task, since he did some other jobs, as well, caulking around the shower, and sealing areas where cold air was coming in. He also replaced the seal and a tube on the toilet.

We are undecided on whether or not to get a new toilet. We want to explore new ones to see if there is one that has plenty of pressure. Some, in the interest of saving water, have so little flushing capability that the user has to flush twice. I don't want one like that.

While he worked, Hubbie ran a couple of errands, and I did this and that downstairs. Mother opted to stay home today.

The worker made only a minimum of noise today, but the products he used for laying the vinyl was smelly.

Around 11:30, I fixed a half a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich for Mother, and sent it along with chips and slices of fresh pineapple to her for lunch. The worker joined us for the same lunch.

After lunch, I exercised in the downstairs bedroom...stepping up and down on a stool, resistance bands, and weights exercises...and then showered and dressed.

Spent the rest of the afternoon catching up on reading newspapers, and playing on my e-tablet. Later, for supper, we took leftovers from yesterday's New Year's Day meal to Mother's house, where I heated everything in her microwave.

The worker left about 5:15, and shortly afterward, Hubbie joined us for supper at Mother's house. We cleaned the kitchen, then returned home to get ready to go to the college for a basketball game at 7:30.

It was an exciting game that our team won (finally) by 20 points! They lost recently to this team on the road, so it was nice to get a win over them on the home court.

Back home, we watched another episode of "The Tudors," and then headed to bed. We're expecting the new cabinet and vanity tomorrow, and the plumber has agreed to come sometime tomorrow to hook up the sinks. At last, we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, after nearly three months. We began this project way back in October!
