Happy Independence Day to all! Happy Birthday to our great nation!

Slept well last night, and got up around 7:30. Skipped my exercises, though, and went ahead and got ready for the day.

Hubbie hung the flag on the well house, then after breakfast, he accompanied Mother to our house. She peeled boiled eggs, and we made egg salad. Then I washed squashes, and Mother cut them for the steamer later.

Then Mother went to her puzzle, and I cleaned the kitchen. Hubbie did things in the yard. We didn't do much else after that.

We thought Daughter would arrive before lunch, but she did not. In fact, she didn't come until close to suppertime.

After lunch, I made a peach cobbler, and set the steamer to cook the squashed, and new potatoes. Mother helped me put the marinated country ribs in a cooking bag, and I slathered them with barbecue sauce, and put them in the oven after the cobbler came out.

The food cooked for two hours, and was ready by 5 p.m. Daughter arrived at 4:30. The meat, squash, potatoes, and a side of sliced tomatoes was very tasty. But we were too full afterward to enjoy the cobbler. We decided to wait until after the fireworks show to indulge.

After supper, we watched the musical movie, "1776," an entertaining way of remembering how we achieved our independence. The movie wasn't done by the time we needed to go to the river to see the fireworks, but we finished it when we got back.

The fireworks were shot from the opposite side of the river from usual, so we found a place to park that afforded us a great view. It was a pretty spectacular show, and we really enjoyed it.

Back home afterward, we enjoyed the peach cobbler with ice cream. When the movie was done, Daughter accompanied her. Before she went, I put drops in her eyes.
