Saturday, Feb. 11

Slept late, until about 8:15. After breakfast, I went to Mother's house to help her take a shower, and then put a load of laundry in the washer. Hubbie had been there earlier to assess an end table beside Mother's rocking chair...a couple of legs on it were wobbly. He decided to wait to repair it until after Mother was out of the shower and dressed.

In one of the table drawers, Mother found three handheld electronic games that she'd forgotten about. There's a solitaire card game, a hangman game, and a Scrabble game. She immediately began playing with the hangman game. I was surprised that the game's batteries are still okay.

Back home, I changed clothes and did stair stepping, weights, and resistance band exercises. It was nearly noon by the time I finished and got ready for the day.

After lunch, Hubbie accompanied Mother to our house. She wanted to come over, even though it was biting cold. Guess one day of staying home, and cabin fever had set in. We spent the afternoon going through another two binders of collected recipes. We now have a huge stack of discarded ones for the ladies of the family to go through, if they want to.

While we did this, Hubbie shopped for groceries for the weekend.

Later, for supper, I added barbecue sauce to leftover chicken...had to devise my own sauce, since there was none in the fridge or on the shelf. Wish I'd discovered this before Hubbie went to the store. We had the chicken with leftover macaroni and cheese, plus English peas for Mother, and butter beans for Hubbie and me.

Hubbie accompanied Mother back to her house afterward, and then Hubbie and I watched our favorite college basketball team play to a win...I'd recorded the game on DVR.

Followed that with a 2010 movie, "Frozen," in which three skiers are stranded on a ski lift and have to either stay put and possibly freeze to death, or take life- threatening risks in an effort to save themselves. A real nail-biter.

Sad news: today, 48-year-old Whitney Houston died. The details of her death are unknown at this time.
